We are happy to share with you some snapshots of the MSRI Get-Together event held on Thursday, 21 July 2022. It was great to reconnect with longtime friends, funders, donors, supporters, suppliers, and vendors after two years of operating remotely due to COVID-19 pandemic Movement Control Order. We had an awesome time meeting new friends and supporters of MSRI. MSRI Chairman, Yg. Bhg. Dato’ Mohammed Ab Halim in his speech which was read by a member of MSRI Board of Governor, Yg. Bhg. Dato’ Hishamudin Ubaidulla, expressed heartfelt appreciation to funders and donors for their trust in our work for the marginalized community. MSRI, turning 63 years old this year, is focused on our journey in strengthening our corporate governance for the improvement of our services to the communities, our sustainability, and our reputation and brand.
Thomas Albrecht, Representative of UNHCR Malaysia, in his speech emphasized the importance of strengthening the network of stakeholders to empower and support refugees to find sustainable durable solutions by providing opportunities for them to access services to education, healthcare and other protection needs. For the record, MSRI has been an Implementing Partner (IP) of UNHCR since 2011. Currently, MSRI is running an alternative learning centre called MSRI School or formerly known as Sahabat School with enrolment strength of 400 students. In addition to the education programme, MSRI is the administrator of UNHCR-funded Women and Girls Protection Against SGBV project, in partnership with University of New South Wales, Australia (UNSW), Tenaganita, WAO, Asylum Access Malaysia, and Enabling Man Through Accountable Practice (EMAP) with International Rescue Committee (IRC). MSRI strives to be a trusted institute that provides essential services and creates sustainable opportunities for displaced and marginalized communities in Malaysia to live dignified lives. We are incredibly grateful to our suppliers, funders, staff, and friends for attending, and for making our get-together a success.
