Our clients often have a host of unique and challenging physical and mental health concerns. Their complex health histories often require multiple consultations across a broad range of health disciplines, including basic healthcare and basic mental health support.
The following services were offered by the Sahabat Healthcare Programme:
- Medical checks and doctor consultations
- Referrals to hospitals and specialists
- Subsidized medications
- Emergency medical funds and support
- Basic mental health and counselling
- Other services such as physiotherapy, yoga, and meditation
Primary healthcare services were offered Monday to Friday, according to the availability of our full-time physician and supporting volunteer physicians and nurses. Mental health and psychosocial support services were provided by four certified counsellors, who were paired with trained translators. Other services provided included social, livelihood, and legal referrals. The efficacy of our healthcare services were made possible thanks to refugee interpreters who are fluent in Farsi, Arabic, Somali, and English.
