The Elham Empowerment Programme provided skills training, entrepreneurship workshops, and access to the marketplace for refugees and asylum-seekers. Entrepreneurship workshops were conducted via the Sahabat Empowerment & Entrepreneurship Programme (SEE Programme), which was a three-month coaching programme that focused on increasing the income-generating capabilities of refugees through selling goods and services.
Through Elham, we also hosted weekly for our refugee clients to buy household goods and appliances, baby items, and furniture for less than RM8 per item. The funds from these sales were used to conduct training programmes and to fund emergency cases.
Through the Programme, we created a refugee wishlist where our refugee clients could request to receive specific items, if they were available. When we received material donations in the form of the requested items (for example, baby strollers, wheelchairs, walkers, baby cribs), we handed over the items to the requester for free. The Elham Empowerment Programme ended in 2020 due to COVID-19 pandamic and lack of funding.
